Plant Identification – Coming Soon
I’m about to launch a two part video series covering wild edibles from around my immediate area. My hope is that you’ll be inspired, as I was, to try some of these wonderful plants in your own diet. Some of them are so good and so readily available (at least where I live) that I really can’t understand how they haven’t made it to the grocery store.
I’m going to focus mostly on things that can be eaten raw – but of course, there will be exceptions. Leading up to that though, a disclaimer is necessary.
First let me say that I am not an expert. I’ve been foraging for less than a year. There WILL be mistakes in this series. Before eating any wild plant, you need to consult a local expert, and be 100% sure of what you’re eating no matter what I say or do. Basically, my stupidity will not be held responsible for yours. Do your own research.
Above all, remember the First Rule of Everything Holy and Sacred – if you aren’t BOTH 100% sure AND right, don’t eat it. In other words, you need to be 100% sure in your own mind AND you need an outside source (preferably a non-human one) backing you up without question.
Because of my inexperience, the videos will be intentionally vague about identifiable characteristics. I don’t want someone getting sick because my inexperienced eyes didn’t key in on something important.
